  1. Petroleum Process Safety Course – 1

Who Should Attend: This training program is designed for a supervisor of a petroleum or refinery unit, a maintenance foreman, or plant related manager, process chemical engineer, a design engineer or plant safety engineer, property insurance or other professional interested in plant safety.

Causes and Prevention training course program provides a framework for participants to increase their awareness, understand, appreciate, identify, mitigate and eliminate chemical process hazards in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. In addition those involved in the auditing, insuring, or overseeing of process facilities and chemical warehouses will benefit.

Who Should Attend: This training program is designed to benefit attendees from a broad spectrum of backgrounds and job responsibilities including chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, process engineers/scientists, fire protection professionals, plant/process safety/risk managers, facility managers, and all others who need to be aware of the fundamental prevention and control of dust explosions.

  1. HAZWOPER – Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response

Who Should Attend: This training course is ideal for personnel who are involved in the removal or handling of underground tanks and/or piping, contaminated soil and/or groundwater, subsurface investigations, construction work in which hazardous materials may potentially be present or encountered, situations where HAZMAT is prepared, packaged, labeled, marked, stored or shipped for disposal and for any facility wherein hazardous wastes are treated, stored, or disposed.

Learning Expectations: This HAZWOPER training course program is led by our staff of experienced Hazmat Instructors and fully meets the requirements under 29 CFR 1910.120 (e) for personnel working on hazardous waste sites in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. The training course program provides practical field exercise activities include on-site evaluation, hazard recognition and an initial report on the site in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. Instructional activities of this training course program include: instrument use and calibration exercises, confined space equipment demonstration, barrel over packing/leaking drums demonstration, initial site survey exercise, decontamination exercise, barrel content identification exercise, sampling safety lecture. Upon completion of this training course program, a Certificate of Completion is awarded, certifying the student has mastered the OSHA recommended requirements for HAZWOPER/Emergency Response training under 29 CFR 1910.120.

  1. Petrochemical Industrial Fire Brigade Officer Course

Who Should Attend: This training course is designed for industrial fire brigade members, safety officers, process safety coordinators and managers, plant management, operations and maintenance staff.

Learning Expectations: The Petrochemical Industrial Fire Brigade Officer Course training course program covers Basic Industrial Fire Brigade Training (IFBB); Comprehensive Industrial Fire Brigade (IFBC); Industrial Fire Brigade Extended (IFBX). The industrial fire brigade attendees of this training course program are provided with the basic incipient level fire training for general employee groups, or dedicated incipient level fire brigades in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. This training course program shall meet OSHA requirements for incipient level fire fighting in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. The industrial fire brigade member is instructed in the skills necessary to function as a member of an interior structural fire brigade as defined by OSHA’s Fire Brigade Regulations. Topics include in the training course program: hose line advancement, extinguisher selection and use, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, and salvage practices. Practical application of these skills in a ‘hands-on’ manner is provided in the training course program. Student will need: TOG, SCBA This training course program provides instruction in a more detailed format of the knowledge and skills required of members of incipient fire brigades as defined by OSHA in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry.

Who Should Attend: This training program is a must for safety, health, environmental officers and people with main job duties in leadership, supervision or management, or in a technical specialty and who have some safety responsibility in addition to their primary duties. It is a must for those preparing to take the examination leading to the designation of Safety Trained Supervisor (STS).

Learning Expectations: The Safety Trained Supervisor-Petrochemical training course certification conforms to the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologist (CCHEST) and is available for general industry, the construction industry, and the petrochemical industry, and the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. This workshop will identify potential problem areas, recommend resources available to prepare for the exam, explain certification requirements and scoring procedures, and review content materials utilizing a testing format in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry.

  1. Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for Team Leaders

Who Should Attend: This training course program is a must for engineers and others responsible for leading PHA studies. PHA for Team Leaders helps prepare leaders of process hazard analysis (PHA) study teams.

Learning Expectations: In this Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for Team Leaders training course program, participants will be given instruction on the technical and managerial procedures involved with leading a PHA team. The trainees will then form a study team with other participants in the training course program and take turns leading the team. This workshop exercise is overseen by instructors who will give feedback on your performance. Upon completing this training course program, you will receive certification of training to satisfy OSHA’s requirements for PHA team leaders. Participants of this training course program learn how to organize and lead process hazard analysis studies, including PHA Revalidations, using the HAZOP and ‘What-If’ techniques in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. Participants of the training course program discover the tactics and success factors that help ensure a successful study.

Who Should Attend: This training course is designed for personnel or individuals involved in leading or participating in process hazard analysis studies; process safety coordinators and managers, plant management, operations and maintenance staff.

Learning Expectations: Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) training course program studies are the foundation for process safety and risk management of highly hazardous process systems in the petroleum, oil, and gas industry. They help petroleum, oil, and gas companies identify hazard scenarios that could adversely affect employees, public, people, property, or the environment from potential exposure to accidental releases. A variety of topics are covered in the training course program including Overview of PHA; PHA Regulatory Requirements; Guidelines for PHA Participants; Understanding Hazards; “What-If” and “What-If”/Checklist Studies; HAZOP Studies; Failure Modes and Effects Analysis; Other PHA Methods – Checklist, Fault Tree Analysis; Use of PHAs.   1. Firefighting Equipment and Apparatus Management Course

Who Should Attend: This course is designed for fire department personnel and students interested in understanding the principles of automotive apparatus and fire equipment in the petroleum oil & gas industry.

Learning Expectations: This course will familiarize the participant with mechanical, automotive apparatus, and hand held fire fighting tools and vehicles (pumpers, aerial ladders, lift platforms, hose wagons, transports and utility vehicles), water towers, heavy auxiliary mechanical equipment and appliances, generators, compressors, rescue and forcible entry tools and cutting torches. A variety of topics are covered including introduction, facilities, training facilities, other facilities, personal protection equipment, hand and power tools and equipment, Apparatus, communication technology, preventive maintenance program, tools and computer database management for preventive maintenance. After completing this course, the participant should be able to; describe the common types of fire and emergency facilities, equipment, and apparatus found at a petrochemical plant. List the basic fire service facilities. Describe the functions of each basic type of fire service facility. Describe the personal protective equipment worn by firefighters. Describe the types and functions of apparatus used by the fire service. Describe the role of preventive maintenance has to ensure operational readiness status is maintained for both equipment and apparatus according to the manufacturers recommendations. Cite what tools and computerized databases are available to assist with the ongoing PM program.
